Rab Ascent 1100 Down Sleeping Bag - Rab® EU
Rab Ascent 900 Review$359.95OVERALLSCORELATED: Our Verdict Rab Ascent 900 is a great bag for those looking to camp in colder weather but do not want to pay the high price for a lighter bag. This bag is only slightly recorded and feels wider than other bags with similar measures and more tapestry. It is comfortable for the rear and side sleepers. Although it is not the lightest bag, the weather resistant shell, the high 650 filled with duck down energy, and excellent features do a lot. For a $360 soda, you can get into the hills to have fun without freezing at night when the storms are plunging into the low teens. Yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah. Our results of analysis and reviews2018 From 2018 onwards, Ascenso 900 has made some changes since we tested it. That is, the use of the Pertex Quantum fabric instead of the Microlight Pertex that was previously used as the outer shell of the bag. These two fabrics are manufactured with 100% polyamide nylon, but the Quantum fabric is almost 50% lighter than the Microlight - the Pertex Quantum weighs in 35g/m2, while the Microlight is 60g/m2 (grams per square meter). The bag still has 900 grams of 650 filling power. The bag lining is now red instead of gray, and the bag price went up $10, up to $350 to $360, which we believe remains a killer deal for a big bag. But, since we haven't established for the one-night break in the new Ascenso yet, the whole following text refers to the bag we initially tried in 2017. Hands-On Review of the 2017 Rab Ascent 900 This bag funded by the budget does not cut corners where it counts. Although it is not as light as the Feathered Friends Snow Bunting or the Western Mountaineering Versalite, or as warm as the Antelope MF, it is light enough for shorter trips in the country where it will do its main job sufficiently, keeping it warm and dry, without draining its bank account. WarmthWarmth is perhaps the most important consideration in a cold weather bag, and our testers found that this budget-friendly bag kept them toasted at night in the senior teenagers, and directly hot at some nights early in spring. Fortunately, there is a two-way zipper for ventilation. This bag is not as hot as low value, more expensive bags like the Feathered Friends Snowbunting or the choice of editors, the Western Mountaineering Kodiak MF. We found that using a low jacket inside the bag helps fill the dead space left by the spacious cut by pushing at lower temperatures. Boots and layers pushed into the wide-foot box also help isolate our feet when they felt cold from extra space. Weight The Ascent 900 has 650 pato fillers down — 31.7oz of it to be accurate. Duck down does not have as much filling power as the high-quality goose found in the similar weight bags and much hotter (and more expensive). This bag does not have the best relationship between heat and weight, but the Ascenso erred in favor of warmth, and our testers agreed that carrying some extra weight was worth the effort. Carrying a few more ounces is better than spending the night breathing in a lame, luxury sack. ComfortThis generously cut bag takes a center of the comfort of the metric road. It's spacious in the foot box and in the hood. Our testers sleeping on the back had a lot of space to cross their legs or play at their feet, but the middle and shoulders of the bag were not wide enough to sleep so comfortably on their sides as on the western high Kodiak mountaineering. The hood is deep and comfortable, keeping our toasted noggins when he swapped loud. We wish the eraser necklace was a little thicker. Packaging SizeOnce again, the duck down does not compress as much as its highest goose cousin, but the Ascense still compresses better than the heavier and less expensive bags. The Pertex shell feels harder than the shells in some of the lighter bags, which is great if you are like our main tester and you prefer to give up the bag of things and simply exchange the bag at the bottom of your package, filling out the rest of your equipment on top. This bag is one of the few models that comes with a compression bag, making it easier to pack as tightly as possible. Features The Ascent 900 has similar features to some of the most expensive bags of our review. The full-length eraser tube that runs the length of the zipper prevented our testers from feeling cold and moisture on the zipper side of the bag. The draft necklace hangs well on the chin, but does not have its own dedicated cinch cord as in Rab Neutrino 800, or Nemo Sonic. A small zipper accesses the pocket of the safety bar located inside the collar, which is large enough for a bluff and a phone. The zipper is lined with an anti-snag tape, but we still manage to get the zipper often screwed in the dark of the night. The hood features a chnx cord that fits around the top and the bottom of the hood. This bag came with a large storage bag and a compression bag. We found that Ascent 900 can compress much smaller in our compression sack smaller than in the bag of things included. Weather Resistance We found that this model is significantly more resistant to time than Kelty Cosmic Down. For the price, we are super impressed that this bag is kept so well against the frozen precipice and not so frozen. The Pertex microluz tissue makes an excellent work of water replanting. In our light rain tests, the water was flattened and curled on the bag, but it did not absorb through the shell or seams. In our submersion tests, we find that the Ascense absorbed slightly more water than the Nemo Sonic. The Ascent 650 filling power duck has Nikwax hydrophobic treatment, which can help the bag dry faster. Our tests showed that the most important factor to retain the loft and the speed of drying time is the water resistance of the shell tissue, and the Ascent does this as well as its lighter and more expensive weight competitor, the Western Mountaineering Versalite. ValueBecause of its weight, comfort and great resistance over time, Rab Ascent 900 is a great value. This bag has some killer features. It has capacity of resistance at the same time as bags that are almost twice the price. It is heavier than some of the most expensive bags of this review, but it will keep you warm when temperatures start to fall. The best sleeping bags RAB Reviewedif(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinite'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-box-3-0')};When a company that specializes in the exterior gear really impresses us with its high quality products, we always like to transmit that information to our readers. A product line that really impressed us was Rab® sleeping bags. Rab® was founded in the early 1980s by Rab Carrington – and specialised in understanding what the marchers and mountaineers wanted and needed. ## ######################################################################################## What we wanted to concentrate on this article is Rab's best sleeping bags. They make some of the best cold sleeping bags in the world, but they also have some very affordable sleeping bags that every day outdoors will enjoy using! What's even more amazing is that these sleeping bags below are still hand filled at the Rab factory in Derbyshire, UK. If you are looking for reliability and quality - Rab is out of the graphics! Below is our list of the best bags of bed Rab- and really create something for everyone! yes(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinido'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-medrectangle-4-0')};Content sizeRab® Ascent Series Sleep bags For most of our readers we are looking for The Ascent series provides a lot of flexibility, they are designed for daily outdoor use, unlike some of Rab's most specialized lines. See how most of our readers are outdoors from March until it gets too cold – this line will be ideal for you! This line has seven different options you can choose from: Ascenso 1100, Ascenso 900, Ascenso 700, Ascenso 500, Ascenso 300, and Women's Ascenso 700 & 500. All these sleeping bags are full of hydrophobic duck. The number determines the amount included in the sleeping bag. Ascenso 1100 has 1100g, Ascenso 700 has 700g and so on. The lower the material, the colder the temperatures in which you can use these sleeping bags. However, the lowest material, the heavier the sleeping bag. All these sleeping bags will have a hooded design, low materials, a sack of compression material, and will be made of very durable materials. yes(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefined'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-box-4-0')};The standard size for these options will be 72.8 inches high (it must fit adults up to 6 feet 1 inches high), 30 inches wide on the shoulders, 25.5 inches wide Women's versions are a little smaller in size. They are usually 67 inches tall (contains adults up to 5 feet 7 inches), 29 inches wide on the shoulder, 26 inches wide on the hip, and 19.5 inches wide in the foot area. Since they are smaller in size, they also weigh less. The weight and temperature level will vary significantly depending on the version you choose. For example, the Ascenso 300 has a temperature rating of 34° F and weighs around 1.85 pounds - which is ideal for hikers! Ascenso 1100 has a temperature rating of -13°F and weighs 3.5 pounds. Once again, the lowest material you have means you will have a lower temperature rating, but it will weigh more. Most of our readers will be interested in Ascenso 300, 500 or 700 options, as they will be ideal for early spring up to late camping down in most places. Option 1100 and 900 are great options if you need a slightly warmer sleeping bag or live in a colder region of the United States. Each sleeping bag comes in a different color scheme, and the price will vary from around $245 to $400 depending on the choice you choose. Due to its flexibility, incredible materials and a general design oriented towards heavy outdoor use, this is our recommended #1 option for the Rab sleeping bag for most people! amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "471943eaf5348dd95d8ad17056e4c128"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B00JYOFIQ,B06XRP4SQD,B00IU8R71E,B00IU8R69M"; Rab® Expedition Series Sleeping Bags The Rab® Expedition sleeping bags are designed for adventures of polar environments, so you better believe that they are well built and super warm. You have 3 options in the Expedition series - the 1000 sleeping bag, the 1200 sleeping bag, and the 1400 sleeping bag. The number refers to the amount of Goose of Europe of high quality that is included in each bag. For example, the Rab® 1000 Expedition has 1000g of Goose European Down.if(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinite'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-banner-1-0')};All 3 of these options are made with the Goose Down, have waterproof coatings, from an identical perspective. It is 76.8 inches high, 31.5 inches wide on the shoulder, 25 inches wide on the hip, and about 17.5 inches wide in the foot area. This extra large space is designed to adapt to the extra bulk that comes from using expedition adventure clothing / cold weather. This is a very nice design element that many other companies do not think about when they produce cold sleep equipment. There are small differences in the amount of Goose Down, weight and temperature of each. The 1000g model has 1000g of low material, has a low temperature of -22°F, and weighs about 3.6 pounds. The 1200 model has 1200g of low material, has a low temperature of -31°F, and weighs about 4 pounds. The 1400 model has 1400g of low material, has a low temperature of -40°F, and weighs about 4.6 pounds. The disadvantage to buy this Rab® sleeping bag model is that it does not have much flexibility. It is designed to be your best option to camp in cold weather, camping expedition, and is still light enough to be hidden in those extreme camping situations. It is not intended to be used during summer hiking trips – you will boil inside! From a price point of view, you are looking around $800 to $1025 depending on the version you choose. That's a great price for sleeping bags made with the best Goose Down materials you can find!if(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinite'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-large-leaderboard-2-0')};The materials are amazing, it's very durable, well designed camping option, and its best! There are some other cold sleeping bags that you can take a look here: . amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "e142f40c3a628687a0454b92387a6389"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B00IU8RD7M,B00K3FXZEU,B00JEYK2AG,B01LXAVX0C"; Rab® Andes Series Sleep bags The Rab® Andes Series The sleeping bags are also oriented towards the encampment of cold weather, but they have some differences and are a little more affordable than the Rab® Expedition sleeping bags listed above. There are also 3 options on this line, the Andes 1000, Andes 800, and the Women's Andes 800. The Women's version is very similar to the normal option – just a little smaller in size, a little lighter in weight, and different in color. From a size perspective, the Women's Andes 800 sleeping bag is about 71 inches high, 29 inches wide on the shoulders, 23 inches wide on the hips, and 16 inches wide at the feet. The Andes 1000 & 800 are 77 inches high, 29.5 inches wide on the shoulder, 22.5 inches wide on the hip, and 16 inches wide on the foot. These were also created with a little more space for their cold time clothes. All these sleeping bags are made with a mummy design built with hikers/tarekkers in mind, high quality materials, and a cap hooded to keep your head very hot. The 800 female is "Anemone" in color (a mixture of rose and purple perhaps?) vs. the "Satsuma" color the other two options have. The Andes 1000 has 1000g of European Goose Down, can be used at temperatures as low as -17 degrees, and weighs about 3.6 pounds. The Andes 800 has 800g of Goose in Europe (I bet you couldn't have guessed that), it's the nominal temperature for temperatures as low as -8 °F, and it's just over 3 pounds in weight. The 800 Women's Andes also has 800g of material low, it is also more than 3 pounds weight, and has a temperature rating of -8 °F. yes(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinite'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-leader-1-0')};Cost goes to vary from $675. With the Andes 1000 option is the most expensive. Again, this is another cold sleeping bag made for hikers and hikers. It is a little lighter, a little less expensive, and has a lower temperature than the Rab® Expedition sleeping bags. Basically, if you are looking to save a few dollars, and the temperatures you venture are not below – 17°F – this will be a great sleeping bag option for you! If you are going to be in a very, very cold time – go with the sleeping bags of the Expedition series listed above. amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "bacca0cde7a40c10c64b94c62ebd95b"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B00HWVZP1E,B00IU8RC50,B00JEFOGRA,B01H3WV63M"; Rab® Summit Series Sleeping BagsRab describes its Summit series of sleeping bags designed for mountain use throughout the year! You can choose from the 800 Summit, 600 Summit, 400 Summit, and 600 Women's Summit. The 800 Summit has a temperature rating of 5°F and is filled with 800g European Pato. It also weighs around 2.9 pounds. The 600th Summit and the 600th Women's Summit have 600g of European deck and a temperature of 20°F. The weight for this option is 2.4 pounds. The 400th Summit has a temperature rating of 29° F of 400g duck material down, and weighs an incredible light 1.92 pounds! This series of sleeping bags has a standard size of 73 inches high, 28 inches wide on the shoulder, 23.5 inches wide on the hip, and 18 inches wide in the foot area. The women's choice is smaller – 67 inches high, 27.5 inches wide on the shoulder, 24.5 inches wide on the hip, and 18 inches wide in the foot area. All options will have a hood design and conical mummy style and will include a compression bag to make it very easy to store. The combination of a nylon outer shell and the inner coating below will keep you warm and comfortable, but they are also very durable. A big point of sale is this sleeping bag down is still very hot, but it does not have to be used in only freezing temperatures like some of the other cold weather options. The price varies according to the option, but is normally in that range from $300 to $400.if(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinido'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-large-mobile-banner-1-0')};If you decide this option, you will be very happy with your choice! amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "28eaf07221c76921b305cdfd7bc96d63"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B00W9HOFTE,B00WUCC7B6,B00WUNZAYG,B00WUOAJ3M"; Rab® Ignition Series Sleeping BagsRab is famous for its sleeping bag options below, but they do have a sleeping bag line that is not made of low materials. That would be Rab Ignition Sleeping Bags. There are four options on this line of sleeping bag – Ignition 4, Ignition 3, Ignition 2, and Ignition of Women 3. These sleeping bags all use polyester-microfibra insulation instead of a low material. Ignition 4 has 200g of synthetic materials so it has a temperature rating of 19°F. Ignition 3 has 160g of synthetic material, giving it a temperature value of 26°F (the Ignition 3 of Women has the same parameters). The Ignition 2 has 100g of synthetic materials, allowing a temperature rating of 32°F. The on 2 weighs 2,3 pounds, The on 3 weighs 2.9 pounds, The on of women 3 is 2.75 pounds, and the on 4 is the heaviest to 3.6 pounds. All these weights are ideal for backpackers and hikers who are looking to lose weight when in the desert! Looking at the size, ignition 2, 3, " 4 are 73 inches high, 27.5 inches wide on the shoulders, 20.5 inches wide on the hip, and a 16 inch foot width. This will easily fit with campers up to 6 feet tall. The ignition of women 3 has 67 inches high, 26.8 inches wide on the shoulders, 21 inches wide on the hips, and 16 inches wide in the standing area. Since it is a little smaller, that is why it weighs less.if(type of __ez_fad_position != 'undefinite'){_ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-outdoormeta_com-leader-2-0')} ; All these sleeping bags have the design of mummy upholstery, a nylon outer shell, a hooded cord, anti-carabe! This sleeping bag line was designed to be a light and packaged sleeping bag, can be used by campers, but it is a great success with hikers and backpackers respectfully. The other great benefit of buying this product line is the cost. Since you do not use materials, you still have an incredibly well-made sleeping bag, but at a fraction of the cost. These sleeping bags will range from $145 to $175. This is the most affordable line of Rab's sleeping bags, and our number one recommendation for any camper looking for an incredibly durable and synthetic material sleeping bag that can be used year round! amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "18476b5e238a32adf03d57665ca5bdd0"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B00UIACW08,B00U8Z1NC6,B00UI4UDLY,B00UIACUDM"; Rab Neutrino Series Sleep bagsAnother popular line of Rab's sleeping bags is the Neutrino Sleep Bag. They go from $285 to $550 and are popular with outdoor men looking for a well priced sleeping bag! You can choose from the sleeping bag of Neutrino 800, 600, 400 or 200, and your choice should be made on the basis of how long cold camping should be done. The Neutrino 800 has a temperature rating of -4°F, the 600 has a temperature rating of 10°F, the 400 has a temperature rating of 25°F, and the temperature value of 200 is 35°F. You can see that this is a wide range of temperatures. The Neutrino 200 weighs only 1,27 pounds – which is a huge reason why these sleeping bags are popular with hikers & campers. The Neutrino 800 is the heaviest option, but it only weighs 2.7 pounds! Its standard size in these options is 73 inches high, 27.5 inches wide to the shoulders, 20.5 inches wide to the hip, and 16 inches wide to the feet. amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_search_bar = "truth"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "outdoormeta-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "manual"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_title = "My Amazon Picks"; amzn_assoc_asins = "B01N5GC7H1,B00J04HVTA,B00LV12U0U,B00K44JFUS"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "07d37af1376994ccb8eb21d0029b6351"; Final thoughts As you can see, Rab has done a great job of making a variety of sleeping bags.
